Get Ready for 5th Grade!

Hello! I hope all your summers have been relaxing and fun. I am so looking forward to starting the year and getting to know you all.

This summer I have spent a lot of time traveling and reading. I went to Brazil for two weeks with ten high school students and worked with different scientists down there. It was so amazing, I can’t wait to share some of my stories with you. I have read a lot of books as well and will post my list of books I read this summer shortly! I would love to hear about any great books that you have read as well! I am always looking to add to my “Someday Books” list!

This is our class blog. I started it last year and am still learning all about what we can do with this. Feel free to explore and leave comments for me. There is always room for improvement!

You can post any questions that you have for me here, or email me at msimonds@yorkschools.org. See you soon!

Materials List

September 4, 2007

Things that you will need to bring for class are:

  • one all purpose binder with tabs to separate classes (it is helpful if you have a pencil case incorporated)
  • white board markers ( dark colors only, no fluorescent colors)
  • old sock ( or white board eraser)
  • pencils, pens, erasers, and pencil sharpener

Things that are recommended but not required are:

  • set of sharpie markers
  • pillow for student chair
  • eraser tops for pencils
  • glue sticks and scotch tape

I am also looking for donations of bean bag chairs and pillows for our reading workshop, low book cases as well as gps units for use in math and science. Please see me for make and model if you are interested in donating a unit.
